With an initial strategic market focus in the data communications field, Twist Semiconductor in 1999 introduced their first of several UART (universal asynchronous receiver transmitter) product families, the TG16C55X series. Each product family contains singles, duals and quads with various packaging options from through-hole to surface mount, including the TQFP versions. All products are available in the industrial temperature range in addition to the standard commercial temperature range and operate at either 3.3V or 5.0V supplies. Twist Semiconductor will continue to introduce additional UART product families throughout 2003, as well as families of mixed signal products for the above markets.
